History of Rocky Mountain National Park -
Legislators passed the Rocky Mountain National Park Act in 1915, and thus made this national treasure a well visited tourist destination. The National Park Service purchased several land parcels to build a few modern amenities - buildings, roads, post offices, and irrigation to name a few. But most of the land has been maintained in its natural state. After World War II, the park underwent a large scale development and improvement program to keep up with the change of times. In 1960's, Congress passed even more environmental laws to protect the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountain National Park.
